“Why is it called Story Hotel?” asked Sören Hullberg, the hotel’s general manager. “Because every traveler comes with their own story, and while staying here, they create new ones. Isn’t that a fitting name?”

At Story Hotel, there are no room keys or IC cards. After booking and paying via the website, guests receive a code. Upon arrival, they enter this code at the computer next to the entrance to check in. They are then assigned a room number and another code to access their room via a machine at the door — a setup perfectly aligned with Sweden’s emphasis on self-service. Although there isn’t a traditional lobby or front desk, 24-hour staff are available at the entrance to assist guests with their needs.

Each room type has a distinctly “storied” name. The Meet & Sleep is the largest room category, offering space for up to six people to gather as the name suggests. It can also serve as a temporary office for business travelers, and includes a balcony — on the sixth floor, you’ll enjoy plenty of luxurious sunlight in summer. The Bath Room may sound puzzling at first, but once inside, the glass-partitioned bathroom says it all. Super Squeeze is the most amusing option: when two people stay, a second bed lowers from the wall like on a sleeper train, leaving no space wasted. Despite offering the quality of a design hotel, it maintains the price of a standard urban business hotel — a true relief in expensive Nordic countries.
