“Why is it called Story Hotel?” asked Sören Hullberg, the hotel’s general manager. “Because every traveler comes with their own story, and new stories unfold during their stay here. Isn’t that a fitting name?”

At Story Hotel, there are no room keys or IC cards. After booking and paying through the website, guests receive a code. Upon arrival, they enter this code on the computer next to the entrance to complete check-in. At that point, a room number and another code are generated, which guests can use at the machine by their room door to come and go. This setup aligns perfectly with Sweden’s emphasis on self-service. Although there’s no traditional lobby or front desk, 24-hour staff are stationed at the entrance to assist guests with any needs.

Each room type has a distinctly “story-like” name. The Meet & Sleep is the largest room type. As the name suggests, it offers space for up to six people to gather and can be used as a temporary office by business travelers. It also features a balcony, which on the sixth floor enjoys plenty of luxurious sunlight in summer. The name of the bathroom—the Bath Room—might be puzzling at first, but stepping inside reveals everything with its glass-partitioned design. The Super Squeeze is the most fun room type: when two people stay, an extra bed lowers from the wall like in a sleeper train, making full use of every inch of space. And this hotel offers the quality of a design hotel while maintaining the price of a typical urban business hotel—something truly appreciated in high-cost Nordic countries.
