The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities is a museum located on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden, near the Moderna Museet. It is a public museum initiated by the Swedish Parliament in 1926. The museum’s first director was the Swedish archaeologist Johan Gunnar Andersson, a Swedish archaeologist, paleontologist, and geologist who made significant contributions to Chinese archaeology. His Chinese name was An Tesheng, and he is considered one of the founders of modern Chinese archaeology.

At the time of its founding, the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities' core collection consisted of Johan Gunnar Andersson's groundbreaking archaeological finds in China, uncovering a previously unknown prehistory of East Asia. Since then, the museum has expanded its holdings to include artifacts and collections from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia across various fields such as archaeology, classical art, and culture. It also houses a large Asian studies library open to the public. Among its collections, the Chinese artifacts are particularly rich. Visitors can explore over 6,000 years of Chinese history in the 200-square-meter Chinese exhibition area, which features cultural relics, paintings, Buddhist artifacts, and Indian sculptures. Additionally, the Korean, Indian, and Southeast Asian exhibition areas are also worth careful exploration, making this an excellent place in Europe to learn about East Asian history.
