Skeppsholmsbron

Skeppsholmsbron is located in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting Blasieholmen to Skeppsholmen. The bridge is 165 meters long and 9.5 meters wide, featuring a 5.5-meter-wide roadway and two 2-meter-wide sidewalks on either side—both functional and aesthetically pleasing. It is Sweden's first cast iron bridge, manufactured in Motala in 1861.

The first bridge connecting Skeppsholmen to the rest of the city was a wooden one, simply called "the little island bridge," built by the Swedish Navy between 1638 and 1640 when the naval barracks were relocated from Blasieholmen to Skeppsholmen. In 1822, the bridge was destroyed by fire, after which a temporary pontoon bridge was erected. The current steel bridge was completed in 1861 and funded by the state. In 1935, Skeppsholmsbron, along with other buildings on Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen, was designated as a historical landmark, making alterations or changes to its appearance prohibited.
