Songye Lake

Introduction: Originally named Darbin Lake, Songye Lake is located 10 kilometers southeast of Azalea Lake and 12 kilometers from Xing’an Forest Farm, within the Arxan National Forest Park. It is a volcanic barrier lake, stretching over 1,300 meters from north to south and more than 150 meters from east to west, covering an area of 314 hectares. The lake is crescent-shaped, with a flat lakebed and a broad water surface where sky and water merge seamlessly into one. The lake is home to a variety of wild fish and serves as a habitat for migratory birds in summer. The eastern and western shores of the lake are flanked by high mountains, with Haoshan Mountain on the western bank being the second highest peak in the Arxan forested area, and a fire lookout tower at its summit. At the southern end of the lake, there is a waterfall about 5 meters high with a constant and abundant flow. The surrounding high mountains on both sides of the lake are covered in dense primeval forests. In the golden autumn season, falling pine needles drift onto the lake surface, densely dotting the water like satin or brocade, creating a unique natural landscape—hence the name “Songye Lake” (Pine Needle Lake). Water from Songye Lake flows northward through Bahaigou Stream into Azalea Lake. A road runs along the eastern side of the lake.
