The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium is the most important fine arts museum in Belgium. It is located in the Coudenberg district of Brussels, the capital, and is associated with four museums, two of which (the Museum of Ancient Art and the Museum of Modern Art) are housed in the main building. The other two—the Museum Constantin Meunier and the Antoine Wiertz Museum—are smaller museums dedicated to specific Belgian artists and are located elsewhere in the city.

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium houses over 20,000 paintings, sculptures, and drawings dating from the 15th century to the present. The collection features an extensive selection of Flemish paintings, including works by renowned artists such as Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Rogier van der Weyden, Robert Campin, Anthony van Dyck, and Jacob Jordaens. The museum also takes pride in its “Rubens Room,” which contains over 20 paintings by Rubens. Additionally, it holds the famous painting “The Death of Marat” by Jacques-Louis David.
