The Cistercian Abbey of La Cambre in Ixelles was first built in 1196 as a Cistercian monastery. The current building dates back to the 18th century and now houses Belgium’s renowned Académie des Beaux-Arts. The serene and peaceful Ixelles Ponds consist of two freshwater ponds stretching over 700 meters in length and reaching a maximum depth of 50 meters, making it a well-known recreational hub in the city. The tranquil Ixelles Cemetery is one of Belgium’s most famous cemeteries, where many notable figures rest in this quiet corner. The city also boasts several interesting churches and museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts and the Musée Constantin Meunier.
