Etterbeek
Etterbeek is a city located in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium, adjacent to the City of Brussels and Ixelles. Herman Van Rompuy, the first permanent President of the European Council, was born here.
Etterbeek is a beautiful and charming city in the Brussels-Capital Region. Two Catholic churches, Saint Anthony’s Church and the Sacred Heart Church (Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur), are particularly magnificent; the Cauchie House, built in 1905 by an Art Nouveau architect, stands out for its allegorical bas-relief facade; the Baronial Building, dating back to 1680, is the oldest structure in the area; lush gardens and numerous modern recreational facilities are important leisure spots for locals. In addition, the bustling medieval market held every May, with its array of goods and lively crowds, is a great place to experience the local culture and atmosphere.
