Arxan Hot Springs Construction Monument
The Arxan Hot Springs Construction Monument is a cultural heritage site protected by Xing'an League and a classic destination on the Red Tourism route.
The Arxan Hot Springs Construction Monument is located within the China Hot Springs Museum on Hot Springs Street in Arxan City, Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia.
The Arxan Hot Springs Construction Monument was built on July 15, 1948, by the Logistics and Health Department of the Northeast Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to commemorate the completion of the Arxan Military Sanatorium.
In the first half of 1946, a unit of the West Manchurian Military Region of the Northeast Democratic United Army entered Arxan. At that time, Arxan was located in the strategic rear of the West Manchurian Liberated Area, far from the front lines of war, and had railway access. It offered geographical advantages such as rugged terrain that was easy to defend but difficult to attack. Notably, the hot springs in Arxan were extremely beneficial for the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers. The Logistics and Health Department of the West Manchurian Military Region utilized barracks and field hospitals left behind by the Japanese Kwantung Army in Arxan to establish a preliminary version of the Arxan Military Sanatorium, which admitted wounded soldiers for medical treatment and rehabilitation. On July 15, 1948, the Arxan Military Sanatorium was officially completed.
In mid-October 1946, Li Fuchun, Secretary of the West Manchurian Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Political Commissar of the West Manchurian Military Region, visited Arxan to inspect the Logistics and Health Department of the West Manchurian Military Region, the guard units, and the under-construction Arxan Military Sanatorium.
On December 31, 1997, the Arxan Hot Springs Construction Monument was designated as a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit by the Arxan Municipal People's Government.
