Lumière Museum

　 Introduction: In 1870, the Lumière brothers moved to Lyon with their parents and learned photography techniques at their father’s photo studio. On March 19, 1895, they filmed their first movie, La Sortie de l'Usine Lumière à Lyon, in Lyon, which premiered in Paris the same year—cinema has since spread across the world.

To honor these two pioneers of filmmaking, their former home in Lyon was turned into a museum (Institut Lumière), and the street was named Rue du 1er Film (First Film Street).

The Lumière Museum features twenty-one exhibition halls spread across four floors, including three above ground and one underground. In the exhibition hall, projectors continuously screen films shot by the Lumière brothers. At the center of the hall are models of the Lumière factory, the Paris Grand Café where the first film screening took place, and the photographic rifle used before the invention of the camera.

The surrounding areas of the exhibition halls display exhibits that document the process of inventing cinema.
