The traditional and historic Lyon Opera House was built in 1831. Due to the audience seating not meeting current safety standards and the need to upgrade the stage facilities, a new Lyon Opera House integrating classical and modern elements was established in 1993. The overall exterior of the Lyon Opera House is quite modern, and besides enjoying splendid operas, you can also admire the unique beauty of its architecture.

The architectural concept of the Lyon Opera House is based on the idea of "a fantastical journey of drama." The designers believed that theater brings people the adventurous spirit and imaginative space of returning to childhood. The building’s shell, roof, and the large red velvet boxes at the theater entrance channel are designed with the grandmother’s treasure chest as the focal point, aiming to evoke the childlike wonder of watching a grandmother perform magic and step into the theater's magical world. The Lyon Opera House can currently accommodate 1,300 spectators, with a stage area of 14,800 square meters, offering audiences the best visual and acoustic experiences.
