There is a strange kind of mountain that doesn’t have the towering height of typical peaks or the continuous ridgelines of mountain ranges — it’s just an ordinary stretch of slope. What makes it unique is that cars can climb uphill here without any power, as if some kind of magnetic force is pulling them up. This is the famous Magnetic Hill in Canada.

Also known as the “Magic Hill,” Magnetic Hill is a new tourist attraction in Moncton, New Brunswick, and is hailed by the West as one of the world’s new top ten wonders. It was discovered in the 1930s. This phenomenon is extremely rare: when you switch the car to neutral and release the brake, it automatically starts sliding “uphill.” Conversely, going “downhill” requires accelerating the engine to descend smoothly. Many visitors are amazed by this and repeatedly test it out to experience the power of the “magnetic force.”

In fact, Magnetic Hill has nothing to do with “magnetism,” and the cars aren’t really climbing uphill by magnetic force. The so-called uphill slope is actually a downhill, but due to the different surrounding visual references, it creates an optical illusion for observers.
