Teesta River
Attraction Introduction
A river in northwestern Bangladesh. It originates from the Zemu Glacier on Kanchenjunga Peak in the Himalayas, flows through Sikkim and India, and joins the Jamuna River near Chilmari after entering Bangladesh. The Teesta River Dam project built in the Barind region can irrigate 12,000 hectares of land.
Features
Approximately 400 kilometers long. The downstream riverbed is 270–550 meters wide, with a flood level of 2–2.5 meters, a maximum flow rate of 35,000 m³/s, and a minimum flow rate of 4,000 m³/s.
