Family trips can include a visit to Hsinchu Zoo Up! To be honest, I’m not really a fan of zoos, but my husband, Fa Ge, absolutely loves them. Back when we lived in Taipei, if we didn’t know where to go during holidays and happened to wake up early, my husband would definitely suggest visiting his favorite—the giraffe family!!!!!! Seriously~ I remember one time when he gave the African animal area a half-hearted look, but as soon as he saw his beloved giraffes, he looked completely satisfied and said, “Alright, today’s goal is achieved, let’s go home!!” Isn’t that just~~~ clearly, he just wanted to see the giraffes.

That said~ no matter how much I dislike it, for just NT$20, it’s worth a visit. No kidding, no kidding, the ticket to Hsinchu Zoo really is only NT$20!!!!!!!!! It’s insanely cheap. Although you might catch a whiff of that classic “zoo smell” upon entering, you’ll get used to it after walking around for a few minutes, so it’s not a big deal. Especially after seeing this hippo that just keeps eating—haha~ super cute. It was the first time our family got to see a hippo eating grass up close, and we were all super excited. The zoo may be small, but it’s compact and makes strolling around really relaxing—it feels like visiting a park and seeing the little animals there. Plus, most of the animals are pretty close, and they all seem quite energetic. My mother-in-law absolutely loves holding our little chubby nephew, and she holds him the whole time whenever we go out.
Recommended Reading: Our little chubby nephew also had a great time looking at the animals, and my mom loves taking family photos—we always end up with tons of them thanks to her. The two sisters are watching very intently. This rooster probably doesn’t know how to get down, as it’s been stuck up there for days. The most interesting highlights here are probably the Bengal tiger + orangutan + XX bear (there are two black bears, but I forgot their full names). The Bengal tiger is seriously handsome—I’ve never seen such a majestic tiger pacing around with such presence, and it also loves swimming~ It’s both fierce and a bit comical. Sorry about that~ that’s the limit of the fixed-focus lens. The orangutan on the left is also pretty funny; she’s super lazy. I kept an eye on her—she really lies down wherever she goes, looking totally relaxed and extremely laid-back. And she’s super cute too, everyone should come see her—you’ll have all sorts of feelings (?!) Saying it’s small really isn’t an exaggeration; it’s just like a large park filled with lots of lively animals. That description couldn’t be more accurate. In short~ it’s a pretty comfortable place suitable for the whole family to visit.
Oh, and there’s also a sandbox that kids absolutely love, so next time remember to bring your sand toys along. That’s it~ A tiny NT$20 for huge satisfaction at Hsinchu Zoo. (The End)
