Attraction Introduction

Traveling west along Jodi Maiwand Street from Chaman, you’ll find an oriental market. In the center of the market stands the Maiwand Tower, built to commemorate a patriotic Afghan heroine. During the Battle of Maiwand in 1880 between Britain and Afghanistan, an Afghan girl named Malalai stepped forward to rally the village men to defend their homeland and fight alongside the Afghan army against the enemy, ultimately achieving a glorious victory.

Malalai’s heroic deeds were widely celebrated, making her the first outstanding female figure in Afghan history.
