Attraction Introduction

The earliest records of the Akhal-Teke horse date back to the 4th–3rd century BC. This horse breed originates from the Akhal Oasis, located between the Kopet Dag mountain range and the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan, and is one of the oldest horse breeds in the world, developed through over 3,000 years of selective breeding. Historically, Akhal-Teke horses were primarily used as royal steeds. Located in the southwestern suburbs of Ashgabat, the stud farm was established in 1922, originally known as the Caspian Horse Breeding Stables, and was renamed the Presidential Stud Farm under President Niyazov in 1992.

Features

These horses have a well-proportioned build, are majestic and robust, possessing great strength, speed, and endurance. Though fierce by nature, they become highly obedient once tamed. They carry themselves with dignity and move with a light, graceful gait. Many renowned horse breeds in Germany, Russia, the UK, and other countries have been developed from Akhal-Teke lineage. Common coat colors include light gold, dark bay, silver-white, and black.
