Attraction Introduction

One of the main attractions in Ashgabat, located in Neutral Square. The main structure stands 75 meters tall and has elevators leading to the observation deck and a café. The three supporting pillars represent the three inseparable foundations of the new Turkmenistan: neutrality, independence, and national unity. The 12-meter-tall golden statue of President Niyazov at the top rotates with the direction of the sun.

On December 12, 1995, all 185 member states of the United Nations unanimously agreed to grant Turkmenistan the status of a permanently neutral country. To commemorate this historic event, Turkmenistan built the Neutral Gate in 1998. It symbolizes the country’s peaceful and open foreign policy, demonstrates a friendly attitude toward the world, and expresses optimism and confidence in a happy future for humanity.
