Attraction Introduction   Located in northwestern Turkmenistan, south of the Amu Darya River. Urgench was the capital of the Khorezm region, part of the Achaemenid Empire. The monuments bear witness to outstanding achievements that influenced architecture and techniques, impacting the architecture of the great Mughal Empire in India after the 16th century.

Highlights

The old town contains a series of monuments dating mainly from the 11th to the 16th century, including mosques, the gates of caravanserais, fortresses, mausoleums, and minarets.
