Introduction Manila Cathedral is the main church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. The original church was built in 1581, but over the years it was repeatedly damaged by typhoons, earthquakes, and wartime fires, leading to continuous reconstructions. The current structure is the sixth iteration, designed in the late 1950s by architect Fernando Ocampo and Archbishop Rufino J. Santos, incorporating stone carvings and rose-shaped stained-glass windows from the old church. Its stained glass windows shine brightly thanks to skylights, while the three smaller side chapels are decorated with mosaics.
