Jangsansan Fortress Wall

Attraction Introduction Traveling along the Pyongyang–Kaesong Expressway, after passing through Jangsangul, look to the left and you will see a mountain fortress nestled midway up Jangsan Mountain — the Jangsansan Fortress Wall. It was built during the Goryeo Dynasty, spans an area of 12 square kilometers, and covers an enclosed area of 2 square kilometers. It was rebuilt between 1632 and 1635. Gate towers were constructed atop the east, west, south, and north gates, each with its own gatehouse. The site preserves remnants of military barracks, weapons storage facilities, and grain storage facilities. Originally, there were four ponds and seven wells in the fortress. In ancient times, 48 temples were located here.
