Recently, everyone’s been talking about a new place to go surfing, and many surf enthusiasts are eager to give it a try. But this spot isn’t Hawaii’s beaches — it’s North Korea, a place you probably never even considered!

North Korea has long maintained strict policies on tourism, but in recent years, in an effort to attract more visitors, the government has come up with many new ideas. As reported by the North Korean news website (NKNews), the country plans to establish three resorts along its approximately 2,500 km coastline, offering surfing holiday packages.

The surfing tour, a four-day, five-night trip, will be organized by the Korean National Tourism Administration. During the journey, travelers will have the chance to visit Songdowon, Lake Sijung, the Pyongyang Times, and other state-run newspapers of North Korea.Pyongyang TimesThe report states that visitors can take this opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery around Pyongyang and explore various historic buildings. The first surfing tour is scheduled from July 28 to August 6. Many American travelers who have joined the surfing trips say it was truly rewarding — the stunning landscapes and refreshing environment made their days in North Korea both enjoyable and memorable.

In January this year, North Korea opened its first ultra-luxury ski resort, which not only boasts luxury and complete facilities, but also features cable cars and snow cannons.
