Wolhyang Exhibition Hall

The Wolhyang Exhibition Hall is located in Wolhyang-dong, Moranbong District, Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, near the famous tourist attraction Moranbong Hill. The exhibition hall is named after the heroic woman Wolhyang Gye, who sacrificed her life for her country during the Imjin War (1592–1598), and officially opened to the public in November 2006, becoming one of the most prominent exhibition halls in the Moranbong District.

Although not large in size, the Wolhyang Exhibition Hall houses a rich and diverse collection of exhibits. Key items include paintings themed around famous peaks such as Mount Paektu (Changbai Mountain), Myohyangsan, and Mount Kumgang; craftworks like Koryo celadon and white porcelain; books on “Korean Seasonal Folk Customs”; medicinal herbs such as balloon flower root, bracken, pine mushroom, pine pollen, bear bile, and Koryo ginseng; as well as alcoholic beverages like “Paektu Mountain Wild Strawberry Wine,” ginseng wine, “yellow-bellied racer wine,” wild mushroom wine, pine mushroom wine, and “Wolhyang Soju.” It is said that Wolhyang Soju was brewed by Lady Wolhyang Gye using spring water from Moranbong Hill for the soldiers of Korea and became quite popular.
