Attraction Introduction

A fold mountain range in southern Caucasus. Located within Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Roughly parallel to the Greater Caucasus Mountains, it runs in a northwest-southeast direction, stretching about 600 kilometers. It connects to the Greater Caucasus in the north via the Surami Range and borders the Armenian Plateau to the south. Its highest peak, Mount Gyamysh, has an elevation of 3,724 meters. The western slopes are moist, receiving up to 2,500 mm of annual precipitation, supporting subtropical crops such as tea plants and citrus fruits; the eastern foothills are dry, with less than 300 mm of annual rainfall, featuring drought-resistant subtropical shrubland.

Features

The mountaintops consist of alpine meadows. Mineral resources include iron, copper, alum, and barite.
