The scimitar-shaped roof of the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, resembles a crescent moon, shining brilliantly under the blue sky. Renowned as "the most spectacular racecourse" in the industry, Meydan Racecourse is located 4 kilometers from the Dubai Canal, stretches 1.6 kilometers in length, and can accommodate 60,000 spectators. Its massive scale makes it the largest racecourse in the world.

The Meydan Racecourse was built at a cost of $3 billion over a period of three years and opened to the public on March 27, 2010. Since betting is prohibited in the UAE, the Dubai Festival is different from horse racing events in other countries—it does not rely on gambling for profits and is entirely sponsored by the UAE royal family. Parking here is free, and its primary purpose is to promote Dubai through horse racing.

In 2006, TAK Group was appointed as the master planner for the entire Meydan City project, which also included the 15th Dubai World Cup Meydan Racecourse that opened in 2010. With the support of the Meydan company, TAK Group achieved the following landmark projects within those three years: a race grandstand for 60,000 spectators, 400,000 square meters of luxury corporate boxes, a two-kilometer-long horse tunnel, a two-level parking lot for 10,000 vehicles, a horse training track, stables, an urban park, a five-star racetrack hotel, a solar-powered crescent-shaped roof, and the world’s largest and longest outdoor LED screen. Today, the Meydan Racecourse has become a focal point of attention and a new benchmark in racecourse design.
