Gyerim Forest

This green forest is located between Cheomseongdae and Wolseong. It is said to be the legendary birthplace of Alji, the founding ancestor of the Gyeongju Kim clan. Designated as Historic Site No. 19, the lush forest features ancient zelkova trees and other species, along with a clear spring that flows from north to west. As the birthplace of the Silla Kim clan and its proximity to the Silla royal palace, it is revered as a sacred woodland. Gyerim Forest feels as though it is shaded by royal consorts and nobility, with century-old zelkova trees stretching across the sky. Along the walking path connecting Daereungwon Tomb Complex, Gyerim Forest, and Wolseong, yellow rapeseed flowers bloom in spring, adding a historical charm to the scenery.

Transportation 1. Taxi – Approximately 3–4 minutes from Gyeongju Station or Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal. 2. Bus – Take Bus No. 11 (first departure at 06:00, last at 21:55, every 16 minutes, 57 runs per day) from Gyeongju Station or Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal, and get off at Gyeongju National Museum. Walk right for about 3 minutes to see Cheomseongdae, with Gyerim Forest located right across from it.
