Bomun Lake

Bomun Lake is located in Sinpyeong-dong, Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It is an artificial lake constructed beneath the ancient city site of Mt. Myeonghak in the eastern part of Gyeongju. With a total area of 1,652,900 square meters, the lake boasts vast, picturesque scenery and has become a key tourist destination developed by the Gyeongju Tourism Organization.

As cherry blossom trees are planted throughout Gyeongju, this area is no exception and turns into a sea of pink blooms. In spring, when flowers are in full blossom, the cherry blossoms around Bomun Lake and in Bulguksa Temple Park flourish. When the breeze blows, a “cherry blossom snowfall” adds a stunningly beautiful touch to the landscape. Riding a rubber duck boat leisurely on the lake while admiring the gorgeous cherry blossoms instantly lifts your spirits. Every year in April, when the cherry blossoms are at their peak, the “Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon” is held here, attracting numerous locals and tourists and creating a lively atmosphere.

With the growing popularity of the Bomun Lake area, international-standard hotels and Gyeongju Land amusement park have sprung up around the lake, offering great convenience for visitors in terms of accommodation and dining.
