Kahoku City

Kahoku City is a city in central Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, established in 2004 as the ninth municipality in the prefecture to adopt city status since Matsuena (now Namerikawa). Located just 25 kilometers from Kanazawa City, it can be reached within a half-hour drive. The city is also home to Ishikawa Prefectural University of Nursing.

Kahoku is well known for its grape production, with about 170 hectares of vineyards situated on the coastal sand dunes near the Sea of Japan, yielding high-quality grapes. Thanks to its favorable location and advanced agricultural techniques, the area has become an important grape-producing region, supplying grapes across Japan. In addition, the region is also famous for its miso and persimmons. For those interested in exploring historical sites, must-visits include the Kamitayama Shell Mound, Hachiman Shrine, Kamo Shrine, and the Ishikawa Prefectural Nishida Kitaro Memorial Museum of Philosophy.
