Tomb of the Three Sovereigns

The Tomb of the Three Sovereigns is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located fifteen li south of Datong City in Wangjiazhuang. According to the *Comprehensive Gazetteer*, *Geographical Records*, and *Shanxi General Annals*, the *Records of the Three Sovereigns* identifies Taihao, Nüwa, and Emperor Yan as the Three Sovereigns, who are buried here. The Qing Dynasty poet Li Yangben visited the Tomb of the Three Sovereigns and composed a poem titled “Tomb of the Three Sovereigns”:

Amid great cataclysm, a foot of earth remains sealed; Cloud-chariots and feathered steeds seek traces long sealed.

The primal chaos split to mark heaven, earth, and man; From primal murk emerged an ageless span.

White grass and yellow sand bury shattered tiles; A lonely village and cold trees face the distant pond.

Ancient maps point to this disputed site, As sunset haze veils the dusk bell’s plaintive cry.
