Datong Weidu Ecological Expo Park was jointly established by the People's Government of Nanjiao District in Datong, the People's Government of Yungang Town, and private entrepreneurs from Qinhuangdao. Covering an area of 550 acres with a total investment of 45 million yuan, it is currently the largest garden-style ecological expo park in North China, as well as a top-tier, multifunctional expo park in China that integrates “leisure and entertainment, ecological sightseeing, and scientific research.” It is mainly divided into six scenic areas: the Ethnic Culture Garden, Thousand-Bird Lake, Ecological Expo City, Giant Chinese Sturgeon Pavilion, Beast Corridor, and Bird Performance Theater. The park not only features the Ethnic Culture Sea showcasing the simple customs of ethnic minorities, but also Thousand-Bird Lake where cranes sing and ducks and pheasants play together; the Ecological City boasts lush ancient trees and vibrant exotic plants; the Mermaid Performance Theater reveals the wonders of the ocean and the harmonious coexistence between humans and mermaids; the Beast Corridor displays tigers and bears living peacefully side by side, leaving visitors in awe. In addition, there are mouthwatering ethnic snacks, a water park with expansive waters and bamboo-lined lakes, as well as bamboo pavilion villas in a distinctive Dai-style design — all of which bring delight and leave visitors lingering with unforgettable memories.
