The spring water at Kusatsu Onsen is of extremely high quality, being 100% natural without any treatment such as heating, boiling, dilution, or recycling. It gushes continuously from over 100 springs, with a total outflow exceeding 32,000 liters per minute, making it one of the highest-yield hot springs in Japan. The water contains sulfur, aluminum, sulfates, chlorides, and other minerals, with a pH between 1.7 and 2.1, classifying it as a strongly acidic sulfur spring. It has potent antibacterial properties and is believed to offer therapeutic benefits for conditions such as neuralgia, muscle soreness, joint pain, skin diseases, shoulder stiffness, bruises, sprains, chronic gynecological issues, diabetes, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis. It also aids in post-illness recovery, fatigue relief, and overall health improvement. Since ancient times, it has been praised as being able to cure "anything except lovesickness."
