Isesaki City

Isesaki City is a city in southern Gunma Prefecture, Japan. In 2007, it was elevated to the status of a special ordinance city along with the neighboring city of Ota, making it one of the few cities in Gunma Prefecture with a still-growing population. It is the fourth-largest city in Gunma Prefecture and is also home to Jōbu University.

Isesaki City is the birthplace of Japanese male manga artist Mitsuru Adachi, who made his debut in 1970 with the work “Mikkake no Nai 0-sei” and later created popular shōnen manga such as “Yukigasa, Yukigasa” and “Touch.” Tourist spots in the area include Meiji Kan, Adachi Shrine, Isesaki Shrine, Gorō Shrine, Jōgyō-ji Temple, Taima-ji Temple, Goshiki Onsen, the former residence of Tayama Yūhei, and the Aikawa Archaeological Museum.
