Ueno Park

Introduction Ueno Park is located on Mount Ueno in Kobe. The park is mostly covered by pristine forests, and the mountain features scenic spots such as a plateau lake, the Dairinji Temple, and a forest botanical garden. Within the park, you’ll find the “Dairinji Temple,” which houses a precious statue of the Nyoirin Kannon from the Tempyo period, the ancient shrine “Ikuta Shrine” built by Empress Jingū, and the “Sennichima Shrine” dedicated to the loyal Southern Court general Kusunoki Masashige.

In autumn, the entire mountainside is covered with red leaves, giving the mountain the beautiful appearance of being dressed in red. This makes it one of Japan’s popular maple leaf viewing spots.
