The Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum is warming up for its annual international exhibitions — “Beauty of Fusion: Masterpieces from Kobe City Museum,” “Coordinates of Clay: Ceramic Collection of the Museum,” and the “Family Art Month.” From now until August 31 on national holidays and weekends, admission is free.

Since the 16th century, the collision between Europe and Asia via maritime routes has sparked a series of astonishing cultural exchanges. Through a collaboration between the National Palace Museum and the Kobe City Museum in Japan, the largest international exhibition of the year at the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, “Beauty of Fusion: Masterpieces from Kobe City Museum,” is now open and runs until September 8.

In addition to displaying precious national treasures, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum also features a 3-kilometer lakeside walkway around the main building, offering different perspectives to appreciate the oriental architectural style of the museum. It’s a great destination for holiday outings.

Meanwhile, the “Coordinates of Clay: Ceramic Collection of the Museum” exhibition centers on East Asian ceramics, showcasing the pinnacle of Chinese ceramic craftsmanship, resources, experience, and energy. It then traces the exchange and fusion of ceramic cultures between China and neighboring countries through elements such as glaze colors, decorative patterns, and vessel shapes.
Additionally, to celebrate Teachers' Day, from September 1 to 30, all teachers nationwide holding a teaching certificate or staff ID may visit both the Southern and Northern Branches of the National Palace Museum free of charge.
