With colorful lights, quaint coffee spots, and melodious music, the lavishly built Urban Light Gallery becomes even more enchanting as night falls, exuding an artistic ambiance. Thanks to the artists’ creative touches, bus stops, traffic lights, electrical boxes, and trash bins are adorned with vibrant illumination. Here, at the open-air coffee seating, you can sip a cup of coffee, whose aroma seems especially rich.

The original works by the Urban Light Gallery’s art team, along with the “SMILE—2001 Wall of Hope,” allow visitors walking through the gallery to fully experience the perfect blend of art and life. The “SMILE—2001 Wall of Hope” is 188 meters long and features the smiles of 2001 citizens—people of all ages, from newborns to octogenarian grandparents. It expresses the hope that all citizens of Kaohsiung will greet each new day with a smile, helping the entire city present a joyful, harmonious, and beautiful image.

The themed area of the Urban Light Gallery is an open-air coffee zone with a distinctly romantic style. Live band performances are often held in the open plaza. There is also a glowing glass platform designed by Lin Xijun, the artist who led the planning of the gallery. When combined with various colorful lighting effects, it becomes even more dazzling. The artwork “Man, Dog, Ladder, Door, Window,” designed by Su Zhiche, adds an air of mysterious fantasy when illuminated at night.
