Eye of Kaohsiung

The Eye of Kaohsiung is situated on the rooftop of the Uni-President Hankyu Department Store in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It has a diameter of 50 meters and a total height of 102.5 meters including the building, making it the tallest Ferris wheel in Taiwan in terms of overall height above ground. It is also the third largest in diameter in Taiwan, after the 88-meter-diameter Ferris wheel at Janfusun Fancyworld in Yunlin and the 70-meter-diameter Ferris wheel at Miramar Entertainment Park in Taipei. The outer rim of the Ferris wheel is decorated with a Hello Kitty design authorized by Japan’s Sanrio, which is why it is often referred to as the Hello Kitty Ferris wheel.

Designed and manufactured by Japan's Senyo Kogyo and assembled by China Steel Machinery, the Eye of Kaohsiung features 36 gondolas (including two specially designed for passengers with disabilities and two transparent ones), adorned in six different theme colors. A full rotation takes about 15 minutes. Located close to Kaohsiung Harbor, it is one of the few Ferris wheels in Taiwan offering views of the sea. When night falls, the Ferris wheel lights up with a variety of colorful illuminations, creating a stunning sight.
