Zizhu Temple

The former name of Neimen Township was "Luohandoor," the earliest place in Taiwan where Buddhist teachings and activities were conducted, and Zizhu Temple serves as the spiritual center of the local community, enshrining a statue of Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) brought over from the mainland by early settlers, and enjoys immense popularity among worshippers.

Today, the temple complex is grand in scale, featuring structures such as the Dragon Tower, Phoenix Pavilion, Nine-Dragon Wall, as well as elegant pavilions and gardens, providing visitors with places to rest and admire the scenery. The temple attracts large crowds of visitors on holidays. Another fascinating feature of Zizhu Temple is its folk performance troupes. On the 12th and 13th days of the second lunar month each year, to celebrate the birthday of Guanyin, performance troupes from all villages in Neimen Township gather here. Among them, the Songjiang Formation is especially thrilling and energetic, attracting visitors from far and wide.

Qixing Zhudi (Seven Stars Fallen to Earth) is located north of Guanting Village and, along with Zizhu Temple, is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Neimen. Legend has it that seven meteors fell onto a stretch of land approximately two to three kilometers in diameter, forming seven small mounds arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper. In 1960, based on the original shapes of these mounds, Zizhu Temple constructed seven four-meter-tall Seven Star Pagodas, which are striking and unique, making them a must-see attraction when visiting Neimen.

Transportation Guide: Take a Kaohsiung Bus from in front of Kaohsiung Railway Station bound for Qishan or Meinong, transfer to a bus bound for Nanhua in Qishan, and get off at Guanting Pavilion.
