The City Hall is one of Macao’s most iconic buildings, with its main entrance located on Avenida da Amizade. Its interior is serene and solemn, giving visitors a sense of being in a world apart. The inner walls are adorned with traditional Portuguese blue-and-white tiles, and the garden is lush with flowers. The building is grand and majestic, currently serving as the seat of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. Opposite the City Hall lies the Civic Square, a European-style plaza surrounded by churches, restaurants, and cafés that showcase the charm of Portuguese life. Locals enjoy sitting around the square to eat or drink and unwind. In summer, the pink hues reflected off the surrounding walls are especially beautiful.
