The Octagonal Pavilion Library in Macau

The Octagonal Pavilion Library is located in front of the Macau Grand Theatre and was first built in 1927. The two-story building gets its name from its octagonal shape. With its emerald green roof tiles and crimson windows, the library resembles a traditional Chinese pavilion, giving off an air of classic elegance.

The library has a collection of approximately 20,000 books and over 90 different newspapers and magazines, primarily in Chinese. It also holds bound volumes of early newspapers such as Overseas Chinese Daily News, Macao Daily News, Wen Wei Po, Ta Kung Pao, and Guangming Daily, which are especially useful for researching materials from the 1950s to 1970s.
