Lin Fung Temple

Introduction

Lin Fung Temple is located on Avenida do Almirante Costa Cabral and is one of Macau’s well-known Buddhist temples. Built during the Ming Dynasty, it has a history of nearly four hundred years. The main hall currently enshrines Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) and Tin Hau (the Goddess of Heaven). In addition, there are the Martial Emperor Hall, Ren Shou Hall, Medical Spirit Hall, Shennong Hall, Zu Song Hall, and Golden Flower Lady Hall (dedicated to the goddess of smallpox). In the mid-19th century, Lin Zexu, an official of the Qing court, visited Macau for an inspection and received Portuguese officials at the stone platform in front of the temple. A full-body stone statue of Lin Zexu has now been erected in the open square in front of the temple to commemorate his visit.
