Macau Friendship Bridge

The Macau Friendship Bridge, also known as the New Macau-Taipa Bridge, is the second cross-sea bridge in Macau connecting the Macau Peninsula and Taipa. It has a total length of 3,900 meters and a width of 18 meters. The bridge is a cable-stayed suspension bridge, constructed with column beams and concrete blocks, and features a wavy design. Construction of the Friendship Bridge began in June 1990 and was completed and officially opened to traffic in March 1994.

The Macau Friendship Bridge is the longest of the three Macau-Taipa bridges, spanning a total length of 3,900 meters, including an 800-meter elevated approach bridge. The middle section of the bridge has two rises, with the top approximately 30 meters above sea level. The four lanes are each 15 meters wide, with additional 1.5-meter-wide pedestrian walkways on either side for maintenance personnel. At night, the Macau Friendship Bridge is illuminated with colorful lights, creating a dazzling effect as it resembles a long dragon stretching across the water, seemingly ready to soar into the sky — a truly spectacular sight.
