Family Travel in Macau This Summer: Three Major Exhibitions & L9 Old Town Food

Macau, suitable for family trips all year round, offers numerous events, activities, and entertainment facilities during the summer holidays. These include the new “Alien Wars” interactive space adventure exhibition launched by Studio City starting today, the “Flying Piano” performance from Belgium at the Macao Cultural Centre in August, and plenty of dining and cultural shops in the L9 Old Town area, plus the star-studded “Martial Arts Stars Festival” in August — perfect for families.

Studio City is offering the 24-hour free “Alien Wars” interactive space adventure exhibition from now until September 9. The first-floor exhibition space features a giant UFO, various alien creatures, and a space bar serving themed cocktails and meals. In addition to interactive simulators, there's also the Studio City Rocket 1, which launches every 15 minutes between 11:00 and 23:00 daily. Meanwhile, the “LINE FRIENDS WORLD TOUR MACAU 2018” exhibition is also currently on display at Studio City.

Additionally, the Macao Cultural Centre will stage the stage play “Flying Piano” from August 3 to 5. Designed for children aged five and above, “Flying Piano” features quirky circus acts, humorous pantomime, an acrobatic piano, endlessly running sheep, and a flying broom that takes everyone on a magical dream journey.

The “Flying Piano,” a masterpiece by Belgium’s “Cirque Delisle & Fia” troupe with a global presence, has been invited to perform in dozens of countries and regions. It is widely loved by audiences everywhere and is perfect for parents and kids to join the flight of fantasy.

Beyond entertainment and exhibitions, Macau also boasts plenty of delicious food and great shopping spots. The L9 Old Town not only has romantic streets with exotic flair but is also packed with restaurants, art spaces, and cultural shops. Must-try Portuguese dishes in Macau include Portuguese seafood rice, clams stir-fry, and African chicken. Authentic Portuguese restaurants in the area such as Portugália “Authentic Portuguese Cuisine,” Restaurante Fook Yat Lau 3, Restaurante António, Restaurante Oficial, Restaurante Porto, Restaurante Santos, and O Gosto de Portugal are all worth a visit.
