Macau Travel APP: Festivals & Events All in One

Macau’s strong Portuguese culture and vibrant festivals have always drawn tourists from all over the globe. The 15th Macau Lusofonia Festival will be held from October 19 to 21 at the Taipa Houses-Museum in Coloane. This three-day event includes showcases by Portuguese-speaking communities, song and dance performances, and traditional Portuguese games, presenting a lively celebration of Lusophone culture. For those who crave thrills and speed, the 59th Macau Grand Prix, the largest international motorsport event in the region, will take place from November 15 to 18, offering an adrenaline-pumping experience. Additionally, the Macao Government Tourism Office has launched a free “Feel Macau” iPhone app, allowing visitors to check travel updates, plan self-guided tours, and explore Macau’s attractions with ease via their smartphones.

The Taipa Houses-Museum in Coloane features historic Portuguese-style architecture and serves as the perfect venue for the annual “Lusofonia Festival.” This year’s festival will run from 7:00 PM to midnight on October 19, and from noon to midnight on October 20 and 21. During the event, the area will be decorated with traditional Portuguese elements, and will host ten booths by local Portuguese-speaking communities in Macau, song and dance performances by arts groups from Macau, Portuguese-speaking countries, and China, a Portuguese-speaking community football invitational, traditional Portuguese games, table football competitions, and a computer simulation game of the Macau Grand Prix. A special “Carmo Radio” will also be set up, playing music from Portuguese-speaking countries throughout the day, ensuring a festive atmosphere where visitors can celebrate and immerse themselves in Macau’s Portuguese heritage.

From November 15 to 18, world-class drivers will gather in Macau to compete in the “59th Macau Grand Prix.” As one of Macau’s most iconic events, the race features motorcycles, touring cars, and Formula 3 cars speeding along the unique Guia Circuit — the only street circuit in the world that hosts mixed-category races. The challenging, winding layout of the Guia Circuit is not only considered a top test of skill by drivers, but also offers spectators an exhilarating experience of speed and excitement.

In addition, the Macao Government Tourism Office has launched a free “Feel Macau” iPhone app, available in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English. The app integrates six functions: Explore Macau, Travel Updates, Trip Planning, Games, Maps, and Augmented Reality. Users can design their own itineraries, earn virtual coins through built-in games, and share their Macau experiences with friends on Facebook.
