Taipa Municipal Garden

Taipa Municipal Garden is a park located on Taipa Island in Macau, completed in 1955. It is part of the "Luso-Chinese Charm of Coloane" scenic area, one of Macau’s Eight Scenic Spots. The historical value of the area where the garden is situated has been recognized by the Macau government.

Taipa Municipal Garden is located along Estrada de Carlos da Maia on Taipa Island in Macau, with a total area of approximately 3,500 square meters. The garden follows the contours of the hill, extending from the tourist attraction of Chapel of Our Lady of Carmel to the residential-style Taipa Houses-Museum. Its pathways connect to the old town of Taipa, where Rua do Cunha is the island’s most famous destination for authentic local food and shopping—a must-visit. Nearby recreational facilities include the Taipa Municipal Library and the Ka-Ho Swimming Pool.

The main highlights of Taipa Municipal Garden include the statue of Luís de Camões, the small fountain, and the surrounding pergolas. At the highest point of the garden stands the statue of the renowned Portuguese poet Luís de Camões, which is worth seeing. The most distinctive features of the park are the small fountain built around the same time as the garden and the surrounding shaded pergolas. The fountain has a cross-shaped petal design that is quite unique and is still in operation today. The circular pergolas are covered with vibrant flowering climbers such as azaleas, trumpet vines, and honeysuckle, creating a very beautiful sight.
