Coloane Island

Coloane Island is located about 2 kilometers south of Taipa Island and is connected by the reclaimed Cotai Strip Road. Most of Coloane’s attractions are concentrated in its urban area. President Eanes Square is the heart of Coloane’s town center, surrounded by bus stops, various restaurants, and the famous Lord Stow’s Bakery. The urban area of Coloane extends along the river from north to south: the northern part includes a shipyard, docks, and the Sam Seng Temple; the southern part features the Tam Kong Temple, while the central area is home to St. Francis Xavier Chapel. In front of the chapel is a square with traditional Portuguese-style architecture, flanked by restaurants and cafés. There is also a monument commemorating the victory of Coloane residents over pirates in 1910.
