Temple of the Northern Emperor in Taipa Island

The oldest temple on Taipa Island, dedicated to the Taoist deity Xuanwu (the Dark Lord of the North). The temple's exterior is solemn and dignified, with classic traditional Chinese architecture. Located at Camões Square in the city center of Taipa, Macau, it is the island’s oldest temple. It enshrines the Taoist deity Xuanwu, and the temple's overall appearance is solemn and classic in style. Inside, the temple houses deities, gold and wood carvings, plaques, stone tablets, as well as other offerings—most of which are rare century-old treasures that offer insight into the history of Taipa Island.
