Dr. Lau Lin Tak’s Macau History Lookout

Dr. Lau Lin Tak’s Macau History Lookout was completed in 1955 and covers an area of approximately 2,181 square meters. Located next to the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier on Rua do Carmo in Taipa, the entire garden features a trapezoidal design along the slope. The buildings in the park are mainly painted in white, red, and light green. Since the Dr. Lau Lin Tak’s Lookout in the 1940s and 1950s directly bordered the sea, the flower stands were designed in a wavy shape.

According to long-time residents of Taipa, the brick house currently situated on the lowest flat ground was actually a toilet built by the seaside, where fish could often be seen swimming in the water below. It has since lost its function due to land reclamation. The nearby Chapel of St. Francis Xavier and its square also feature strong Portuguese architectural styles, making them popular spots for local weddings and tourist photos. This park is directly adjacent to the Taipa Houses-Museum. In the height of summer, standing at the highest point offers a delightful view of lotus flowers swaying in the breeze across the entire lotus pond.
