Located in the central southern urban area of Taipa, Macau, Rua do Cunha is close to the Taipa Houses–Museum and The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel. It is the first pedestrian-only zone in Macau. The Macau government has decorated this narrow street, and it is now densely populated with restaurants, dessert shops, and local specialty stores, making it one of Macau’s newly emerging popular attractions.

Rua do Cunha stretches from the intersection between Rua do Comandante Silva and Rua Correia da Silva to the Praça do Corpo de Bombeiros. It intersects with Rua do Regedor and Praça do Corpo de Bombeiros in a T-shape. Don’t underestimate this small street, which is only about 115 meters long and 5 meters wide. The street is lined with Chinese and Western restaurants, as well as several local specialty and pastry shops selling traditional snacks. These attractions draw many tourists and residents from downtown Macau. The street is usually bustling with pedestrians, and even more so during holidays. After visiting Rua do Cunha, many people head to Praça do Governador Nobre de Carvalho to see the French Renaissance-style drinking fountain—the “Fonte de Venus”—and take photos with this iconic landmark.

Be sure to explore the wide variety of delicious food when walking along Rua do Cunha. At the intersection with Rua da Felicidade, there is a well-known restaurant called Restaurante Cheng Cheong, famous for its Crab Congee. A large bowl comes with a whole mud crab, and its rich roe is evenly distributed throughout the congee, delivering a delicious taste. At the street entrance, you’ll find Mok Yee Kei Ice Cream, which offers three must-try treats: sago pudding, durian ice cream, and malted milk pudding—all highly recommended. Many Hong Kong and Macau celebrities are often spotted here. Walking from Rua do Cunha to Praça do Governador Nobre de Carvalho, you’ll discover the popular Tai Lei Loi Kei Pork Chop Bun. The pork is juicy and flavorful, with just the right seasoning, and though the bread may look dry and hard, it is surprisingly soft and fluffy.
