Hong Kong Tuen Mun Park

Tuen Mun Park is a large park in Hong Kong, located in the Tuen Mun District of the New Territories. Covering an area of approximately 12.5 hectares, it is the largest and most prominent park in the district. Originally known as Tuen Mun Town Park, it was built by the Regional Council and is now managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong.

Tuen Mun Park is the first large-scale park in the New Territories to provide a wide range of recreational facilities. The park is divided into two phases: Phase I opened on August 29, 1985, and Phase II commenced operation on January 2, 1991. Built on reclaimed land, the park features over 2,000 trees and 100,000 shrubs of approximately 200 different species. It also includes a man-made lake covering about 1 hectare, and the Reptile House located in the southern part of the park is another highlight. Other facilities include an artificial waterfall, model boat pond, open-air theatre, roller-skating rink, children’s playground, and multi-purpose courts.

Reptile House

Opened in 1999, the Reptile House is the first reptile exhibition facility established by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong. Situated on the grassy area in the southern part of the park, it covers an area of approximately 245 square metres. The facility includes indoor exhibition tanks and outdoor display areas showcasing various species of reptiles. Currently, there are 43 live specimens representing 20 species, along with illustrated informational displays and seven model reptile specimens. With an annual visitor count of 400,000, it has become one of the park's main attractions.
