Standing opposite Cape Fortune and flanking both sides of White Sand Bay, this cape was formed by the eruption of Zhuzi Volcano from the Datun Volcano Group around 800,000 years ago. Locally known as "Bíwěibí" or "Bíwěitóu" by residents of Demei Village, it was renamed "Qilin Mountain Nose" during the Japanese colonial period. The area is composed largely of volcanic rock “andesite,” which is dark black and hard in texture. The wind-eroded, angular rocks known as ventifacts are iconic landscape features along the Qilin Mountain Nose walking trail.

Located along the Laomei Green Stone Trough Coast in Shimen District on Taiwan’s northern coast, this site turns a vivid emerald green every year from March to May due to the growth of seaweed, creating a unique spectacle found nowhere else in Taiwan. When the stone troughs are covered with lush green algae, the striking colors and elegant lines form a breathtaking view that has become a must-shoot spot for photography enthusiasts annually.

The Songshan Community in Shimen District, once abandoned for over 20 years, launched a rural regeneration project in 2012. It introduced Japanese Koshihikari rice and revived the century-old stone terraced fields for cultivation. In addition to promoting local farming, the initiative has transformed agricultural practices, allowing urban residents to take part in hands-on farming experiences such as transplanting and harvesting rice. Beyond these activities, visitors can also enjoy delicious rice dishes made from the locally grown Thousand-Year Rice.

Hidden within the Cape Fortune Park in Taiwan’s northern coast lies a viral social media attraction — the “Laomei Maze.” Alternating brick walls weave together into winding, intricate pathways, and this playful design delights many visitors. Though the maze isn't very large, it’s situated on a vast lawn and offers a bird’s-eye view filled with mysterious totem-like patterns, giving it the feel of a miniature alien ruin. It’s not only highly photogenic but also great fun, making it a must-visit photo hotspot in the northern coastal area. For a full view of the maze, it’s recommended to climb up the slope to see its sprawling, irregularly crisscrossed layout.
