Shengshan Zhen Tang

Shengshan Zhen Tang is the largest Taoist temple in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is a charitable religious organization encompassing Taoism and Buddhism, located at 7-8 Lut Lun Street, Kowloon Tong. The “Shengshan Zhen Tang Chinese and Western Medicine Clinic” is situated on Ka Ping Tat Road, Kowloon City.

The predecessor of Shengshan Zhen Tang was the “Peng Ying Ge,” founded in 1942 in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China. It included a branch called the “Shan Bao Shan She,” which was dedicated to charitable activities such as distributing clothing and food. After the war, it relocated to Hong Kong and established “Shengshan Zhen Tang” on Yun Pan Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, in 1952. In 1958, it was registered as a temple with the then Urban Services Department. In 1959, it moved to Tam Kung Road. It was later registered as a “Limited Company” in 1967 and as a “Non-Profit Taoist Charitable Organization” in 1968. In 1970, it moved to its current location at 8 Lut Lun Street, Kowloon Tong, and purchased the adjacent property at No. 7 in 1990, expanding to its present scale.

Shengshan Zhen Tang houses several halls including the Hall of the Three Pure Ones, the Manjushri Hall, the Doumu Pavilion, the Luan Altar, another Manjushri Hall, and the Guanyin Hall.
